The Same – The Party (revised)

I’ve decided to expand the list of sources I’m working from for this series to add greater variation. I’m keeping with the island theme for the sources, throwing in a few oddball texts for texture. I’m still coming up with a final list, from which I will arbitrarily choose three texts for each poem. This one is a bit rough at the end, but I like the new directions it takes, especially in the first two stanzas.

I’m writing them one stanza at a time, saving each and then working on the next. This will allow me to revise any poem by just rewriting problem stanzas.

the party · and again · the slain were more
successful · opened · to the party to
a basement · to the point · the more askew ·
the thing · the very · yes · the master of
the house rejoiced in everything · the last ·
the most tattooed · the arrows with success ·
event in engineering · anything
in love · the hills in all directions man ·

the hills in all the time · the slain · towards
the trees the sound · upon the ground in two ·
the frightened and confused · the very · yes ·
the party · and a half in two · the wet ·
the body of the dolphin · what · the house
awake · the bottom · as the future · through
the fire with the other bodies · through
the green confusion · to the shore in two ·

the bottom · brown · bananas · plantains · and
in what a woman at a stretch · upon
the ground in engineering · again · through
the dark · the dolphin · firmness · as the king ·
in earnest · like the beast · the dolphin · came
in for the hundredth time · the most tattooed ·
upon the world · a creature · and the work
advances quickly · for the party man ·

Texts:
Feodor Dostoevsky, Notes from the Underground
