Reflections on Ogden Nash

Who suffered (and died) from Crohn’s disease. Nash’s poetry seemed an appropriate source for today, which begins Crohn’s & Colitis Awareness Week.

Woman? Oh, some Olympic land makes the best,
entertainly they saint
created decks which let men blink, so fertile as
oceans galore and paint

Pardone
no one!

    I like how “Pardone” was cut off from “pardoned” (from “The Boy Who Laughed at Santa Claus”) to create a visual rhyme with “one”.

    Ogden Nash seems like a forgiving corpus: lets you produce unusual juxtapositions that are not as easily dismissible. And in fact, both stanzas are open to a number of interesting readings.
